The Montpelier Performing Arts Hub (MPAH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to curate and provide high-quality performing arts education for the Central Vermont Community at a professional performance venue. The organization recently purchased 35 College Street (aka The Gary Library) on the Vermont College of Fine Arts Campus in downtown Montpelier, Vermont, and is working towards renovating the space into a state-of-the-art performance, educational, and social resource for our community.

The Gary Library

This project is about reclaiming an historic building. The Hub will transform the library into Central Vermont’s state-of-the art performance venue that will engage the community. It is flood resistant, located on the VCFA campus, across from, and with access to the green, has plenty of evening and weekend parking, and only a 10 minute walk to downtown.

The main floor will provide…

  • Administration offices

  • Intimate café/bar with indoor and outdoor seating

  • Flexible performance area featuring

    • Rigging, stage curtain settings, LED stage lighting luminaires, lighting control console, power control and distribution, integrated house/stage lighting system, stage communication system, an ADA compliant assistive listening system, flexible audience seating systems, and improved acoustics

The Basement Level will provide…

  • Four educational classrooms and rehearsal studios

  • Rear parking lot entrance

  • Reception area complete with lockers

Both levels will be ADA accessible with ramp entrances, bathrooms, and an elevator between floors.

When complete, the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub will serve students and community members as a fully accessible center for the performing arts.
