As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on the extraordinary progress we’ve made and the bright future ahead. Just one year ago, we toured the Gary Library building at the invitation of the Vermont College of Fine Arts—and the experience left us deeply inspired. In that moment, we saw the potential for a space where our community could gather, create, and experience the transformative power of the arts. Within weeks, we formed a Board of Directors, established a nonprofit, and set our sights on making that vision a reality.
Thanks to the generosity of so many, we’ve already made incredible strides. In just three months, we raised over $380,000, enabling us to purchase the Gary Library building in July with the support of the Vermont Community Loan Fund. Today, we are proud to call it the home of the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub!
Since moving into this new space, we’ve been hard at work to turn our vision into something tangible. In the short time we’ve been in the building, we’ve hosted 18 events, showcased the talents of over 52 local artists, welcomed 800 ticketed guests, and generated over $18,000 in ticket sales. These events have brought our community together and demonstrated the vibrant demand for a creative hub right here in Montpelier.
But we’re just getting started.
We are now in the process of creating detailed renovation plans that will transform this historic, flood-resistant building into a state-of-the-art venue for performing arts, community events, and lifelong learning opportunities. We’ve enlisted a talented team of local architects and contractors who are working with us every step of the way to ensure the building meets the highest standards of safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
To continue moving forward, we need your help.
This holiday season, we are reaching out to ask you to become part of our Founding Circle of Donors. With your support, we aim to raise $532,000 to fund critical next steps in the renovation process, including:
Finalizing our renovation plans with a team of engineers
Installation of essential infrastructure like electrical conduits, drainage, and sewer lines before the campus parking lot was repaved for the first time in over 40 years
Paying down our bridge loan with the Vermont Community Loan Fund
Addressing immediate weatherization, plumbing, and safety upgrades
Every contribution, no matter the size, is an investment in building a vibrant, creative community that will thrive for generations. Your support will help us create a space where the arts and creativity can flourish, where local talent is celebrated, and where our community can come together in ways that inspire connection and joy.
We cannot thank you enough for considering this opportunity to be part of something truly special. We are excited to have you with us as we lay the foundation for the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub. May this season be filled with warmth, laughter, and a renewed sense of possibility.
